Protektor Metal Furring Profile 15.5 x 48 x 0.6mm

Protector Furring Channel is manufactured from 0.6 gauge steel and conforms to all British and European standards. The heavier gauge of steel used by Protector enables multi layers of board to be installed without concern of possible shear or failure. The Furring channel can be fixed directly to the wall by mechanical means or by using the traditional bonding compound method of “dot and dab”. Note: Due to possible delamination, dot and dabbing is not recommended directly onto existing plastered walls.

Typical Fixing Instructions

- Check and pre-treat masonry as required.
- Fix and adjust the horizontal profiles within the bonding compound.
- Fix and adjust the vertical profiles with the bonding compound dabs. A 50mm gap should
be allowed between the horizontal and vertical profiles to allow for services.
- The perforated area of the furring channel should be completely embedded into the bonding compound dabs.
- The distance marked “A” in the drawing should be set at either 300mm, 400mm or 600mm centres. This distance is dependant on the thickness of FERMACELL to be installed.
- After the bonding dabs are fully dry (approx 24 hours), screw fix the boards to the furring
channel using FERMACELL screws.
- Joint in accordance with the XPR instructions.
- Finish as required.
